Spring is in the air! Checking out the Latest Trends at April Interiors 2019

This week saw the return of the much anticipated April Interiors Show, held at the prestigious Cheltenham racecourse. The show was bustling with curtain makers, interior designers and furnishing retailers. I was super excited to visit the stands of some of the leading UK furnishing companies and see their new products in the flesh!

I’d earmarked some new ranges of curtain poles to check out and they did not disappoint. So, shortly we will be launching these on our website. They’ll include some painted wooden curtain poles in earthy and stone colourways, a range of rustic wooden curtain poles with beautiful contours of wood grain showing, as well as some metal bay window curtain poles.

However, as I wandered around the tradeshow, feeling a bit like a child in a sweet shop with all the lovely offerings on show, I could not resist the beautiful furnishing fabrics. I found myself drawn to the stands, flicking through the fabric swatch books and admiring the lengths of fabric draped about the place. As we don’t currently offer a soft furnishing range there wasn’t much point in me looking but I couldn’t help myself, my background in Textile Design just made it impossible to resist!

One particular fabric company caught my eye – Sam Wilson. Beautiful linen union fabrics printed with Sam’s own designs which she had taken from her lino cut artwork. She supplies home accessories including lampshades, cushions and kitchenware. For the first time Sam is making her fabrics available to purchase by the metre for use for curtains, hence why she’d decided to exhibit at this year’s show. Her style is a mix contemporary and rustic combined, the natural linen fabric is printed with her own country themed designs. So, we are very pleased to announce we will be offering her beautiful fabrics by the metre on our own website along with some coordinating furnishings from her range.

All in all it was a great day! Some good contacts gained, some new products in the pipeline and just so inspiring being surrounded by all that creativity, the beautiful furnishings and the talented designers and makers who visited the show.
